Creative workshops
Jellycat has worked with young people within early intervention services across the north of England.
Films:
Recently a film was completed around service users experiences of psychosis. Participants learnt a range of creative skills which included script development, story boarding, use of technical equipment and screen layout. The young people also developed their own original soundtrack for the film.
Storytelling Workshops:
In June & July 2008 Jellycat Media were commissioned by Aspire Leeds to run a series of storytelling workshops with Aspire service users. These involved 3 ‘twilight’ sessions in June and a fourth full day workshop in July where stories were filmed.
The primary aim of the programme was to facilitate and record the participants’ personal stories of psychosis and their experiences of & views on mental health agency interventions.
The workshops offered participants the opportunity to:- Tell their stories in their own words
- Share them in a supportive group environment
- Learn some creative storytelling & filming skills
- Explore ways in which their stories could raise public awareness of mental health issues and challenge the stigma often associated with this area.
