About Us People
Kate Macdonald is the Managing Director of Jellycat Media, which provides consultancy and training in improving mental health services across England.
She has a background in mental health service development and a special interest in early intervention in psychosis services having set up PSYPHER in Hull and being a member of the National Steering Group for Early Intervention. Kate's work for Jellycat has included:
- adapting Mental Health First Aid materials for England
- working with Leeds Aspire and Manchester Early Intervention Service
- providing programme support to Yorkshire and Humber Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP) around smoking cessation in mental health and mental health and the media.
- a regional role with Yorkshire and Humber improvement partnerships (YHIP), providing programme support around early intervention services including setting up a regional website and service user led evaluation.
- a role as project manager and producer on a number of films aimed at reducing the stigma of mental health problems.
Kate is passionate about improving service provision for young people experiencing mental health problems and finding creative ways to reduce the stigma they can suffer across their local communities.
James Harper is the Creative Director of Jellycat Media. He is a practicing artist, designer and qualified teacher with expertise in visual arts, media arts and arts project management.
James established the nationally recognise Creative Connexions team and a number of high profile creative based commissions and contracts to deliver creative learning to young people.
In addition to this James has led on many research and evaluation projects and has had national recognition from the Childrens Workforce Development Council for research undertaken in creative approaches to engaging with hard to reach young people.
